Glass
Goh’s stunning glasswork catches the natural light in the station, evoking a sense of sea, sky, and languid days spent on Punggol beach in years past. The artist’s memories of Punggol are reflected in his use of colour: blue and turquoise for the sea, shades of yellow, brown and sienna for the fishing villages, and green for the trees. The intense colours and fine textures of the work were achieved through an exacting firing process that fused thin layers of glass hand-painted by the artist. Fragments of different materials embedded between the layers of glass have added a tactile dimension to the work. The resulting artwork is a spectacular aesthetic experience for all the senses.
